POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of this job is to be responsible for managing key environmental data used for regulatory filings, ESG publications, and any other environmental calculation the organization deems relevant. This position works closely with the Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety, but primarily focuses on quantifying the greenhouse gas impact of the REG’s supply chain.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & PERCENT OF TIME: (100%)
Collection and management of data required for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) (30%)
• Oversee the calculation of REG’s carbon intensity using Fuel Cycle models, in particular GREET
• Implement and manage enterprise wide data collection for various environmental analysis

Design and implement projects that reduce the carbon intensity of REG’s supply chain (30%)
• Design and implement projects that result in decreased supply chain GHGs that fall within the predetermined regulatory frameworks
• Work with a diverse set of stakeholders, including corporate and manufacturing staff to implement lower carbon intensity technology
• Ability to research and investigate the environmental properties of technologies that may be new to REG

Interact with regulatory agencies for both educational and advocacy reasons (20%)
• Work with applicable regulators as biofuel laws/rules change, providing education as it relates to LCA and the quantification of GHGs

Assist the organization with any additional environmental calculations (15%)
• Work with the government affairs, sales, ESG, and marketing teams on environmental calculations
• Advise the company on matters related to quantification of GHGs

Other frequent duties: (5%)
• Ability to do scientific and policy research


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred Education:

• Agricultural or bioenergy engineering
• Mechanical or chemical engineering with a focus on bioenergy applications
• Public policy with a strong knowledge of current biofuel policy and LCA

Preferred Experience: 3-7 years

Special skills, knowledge, or certifications preferred:
• Life cycle assessment of bioenergy systems
Proficiency in GREET, BIOGRACE, GHGenius, or other LCA tools a strong plus
• Familiarity with RFS, LCFS, RED II and other renewable fuel policies
