Job Description


The purpose of this job is to research and develop scalable, cost-effective processes for the recovery and production of bio chemicals and fuels from our proprietary fermentation processes. R&D involves bench-scale screening, lab-scale process development, piloting activities and process optimization for commercialization, and generation of representative customer samples for early commercial development.  


  • Conduct the day-to-day operations of lab and pilot scale process development in ermentation harvest, refining of biochemical and biofuels and waste-stream processing. 
  • Conduct day-to-day operations of lab and larger scale activities for generation of customer samples.
  • Conduct experiments from preparing experimental plan, observation, data analysis, drawing conclusion and completing experimental reports. 
  • Characterize intermediates and products and analyzes process data independently and in a collaborative team environment. 
  • Assemble, maintain, and operate process equipment. 
  • Research, develop, and implement new methods and technologies to enhance operations and process performance. 
  • Demonstrate success in technical proficiency, application of scientific theory, collaboration with others and independent thought.

Education Required: BS in chemical engineering or related filed. 

Experience Required: Bachelors degree with 0-2 years of related experience. Technical experience in industrial biotechnology, oils-and-fats and oleo-chemical R&D and commercial processing is desired. 

Knowledge Required: Good understanding of scientific fundamentals and chemical engineering principles and concepts. Excellent math skills, oral and written
communication skills, organizational skills, ability to perform business functions. Academic lab experience and/or process and product development experience in reactions/separations plus.
