Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Materials and Transportation Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and coordinating plant logistics, supervising the work activities of subordinates and encouraging their knowledge of the business, ensuring a safe work environment for employees and fostering continuous improvement strategies at the facility.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Coordination and Supervision of Logistics Personnel

  • Understand management principles and ensure all employees are engage in these practices.
  • Recruit, orientate, train and continually develop efficient logistics personnel.
  • Submit bi-weekly payroll and track employee’s use of vacation and personal time using company software.
  • Submit reports on plant personnel performance and progress.
  • Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules for direct reports.
  • Ensure timely training of plant personnel on changes in procedures, equipment or processes.

Inventory Tracking

  • Manage inventories for raw materials and finished products by tracking daily usage/production and coordinate delivery/pick up schedule to maintain targeted inventory levels
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Report scheduled and unscheduled rack closures to all appropriate staff and stakeholders
  • Coordinate chemical procurement and scheduling for the plant.
  • Monitor and manage plant shipping and receiving schedules for truck, rail and vessel
  • Assist with budgeting by monitoring labor and logistic expenses.

Environmental, Health and Safety

  • Enforce strict EHS guidelines, regulated by REG, WISHA, USCG, DOE, EPA, FRA, ORCAA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain compliance with Class 1 terminal requirements
  • Manage Facility Security Plan as the Facility Security Officer
  • Assist in emergency response and spill drills as Alternative Qualified Individual and Incident Commander 
  • Participate in PHA reviews, MOC’s and other similar reviews related to logistics.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping schedules to ensure a clean facility inside and out.
  • Oversee and ensure proper updating of SOP’s and other related documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Required: 4 year bachelor’s degree – Accounting, Finance or related degree

Experience Required:  3-5 years

Skills Required

Advanced Excel skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Extensive math and accounting skills

Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio)

Special skills or knowledge preferred:
