Job Description


The purpose of this position is to assist in the oversight and execution of pricing, risk management, and monitoring of biodiesel positions.


CONFIDENTIALITY:  This position will have access to information that is confidential to the operations of the company.  That information must be held in highest confidence and failure to do so will result in disciplinary action which may include termination of employment.

Operations Function

  • Assists in the development of business intelligence and market analysis
  • Helps with the implementation and oversight of the Risk Management program
  • Participate in performing the requisite business and financial due diligence related to business/market opportunities
  • Develop and propose risk management strategies to employ to Operations Control Team
Research Function
  • Assists with monitoring biodiesel positions
  • Monitor diesel/biodiesel rack prices and recommend pricing levels for REG biodiesel
  • Develop competitive market strategies on commodities
  • Identify additional investment and business opportunities aligning with overall strategy
  • Aid in interpretation of market information to assist in managing the overall risk profile
  • Follow worldwide markets for commodity agriculture fats, oils, and petroleum products
  • Provide input for REG’s strategy to meet customer’s contracting expectations
  • Help identify new contracting options which align to business and growth needs and assure sufficient margins to support overall growth plans
Special projects
  • Assist in design and implementations of key business projects
  • Analyze research results with supporting research and proper documentation
  • Formulate a recommendation based upon teams analysis
Other frequent duties:
  • Interacts with Procurement Team and Sales Team on risk management for the company
  • Coordinate with inside and outside sales team members to ensure competitive sales and pricing objectives are established and followed

Perform other duties as assigned


Education Required: Pursuing a masters or bachelor’s degree – Finance or related degree

**Students must have at least 6 months left in program to be considered

Experience Required: Experience in manufacturing, technology development, and/or a financial analysis preferred

**Business environment experience, relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred

Skills Required

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)

Advanced math and accounting skills

Financial modeling experience

Special skills or knowledge preferred:

Advanced Excel skills (Pivot table, Macros, Advanced Excel Functions)
