Job Description

Our comprehensive, 12-week paid internship program gives you the opportunity to test your skills working for the nation’s leading producer of cleaner fuels and developer of renewable chemicals. This internship will begin May 18, 2020 and end August 7, 2020.

POSITION PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to take on rotational assignments with the REG HR team that will assist functional HR leaders with projects in the fields of talent acquisition, payroll/benefit administration, learning & development and employee relations. The HR Intern will be provided specific short term projects that can be completed in three week intervals as well as one major project to be completed by the end of the internship and reported on to senior leadership. This internship experience will mimic a “day in the life” that an HR generalist could encounter in scope of duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Key Accountabilities:

Talent Acquisition
• Attends job/career fairs with appropriate staff as a source to generate qualified applicants
• Assists with the writing of and updating of all job descriptions
• Provides information on company operations and job opportunities to potential applicants
• Arranges travel and lodging for applicants, if necessary
• Instruct applicants on completing employment applications and review for completeness
• Coordinates interview appointments for applicants
• Assists management and supervisors in identifying personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications and skills

Payroll & Benefit
• Assists with running payroll for a business unit
• Orients a new employee on use of ADP, Payroll and Benefits
• Assists with preparation of source documents
• With assistance, answers an external site question regarding pay

Learning and Development
• Assists with class administration
• Leads a section of a training course
• Enters information into the Learning Management System
• Works with course evaluation scores
• Meets with an internal customer to help assess L&D needs

Employee Relations
• Assists HR Director with an employee discipline/investigation case
• Assists Talent Management team with Intern social events
• Attends a community event as a representative of REG
• Documents and employee relations case

Other frequent duties:
• Process HR paperwork
• Assists or prepares correspondence

Perform other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree – Business or related degree
**Rising Senior or Junior status required
Experience Required:
**Business environment experience, relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred

Skills Required:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
Basic math and accounting skills

Special skills or knowledge preferred:
Knowledge of government compliance requirements
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot table, Macros, Advanced Excel Functions)
