Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to assist with Transportation Planning and Transportation Processing Function. This position is also responsible for performing the payment of rail car lease payments, diversion of empty tank cars, and distribution of rail car fleet to REG plants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Key Accountabilities:

Transportation Planning


  • Develop technical expertise and control costs
  • Coordinate biodiesel shipments from REG plants to customers
  • Coordinate truck transportation for biodiesel and glycerin
  • Assist with the set-up of export/import shipments
  • Maintain and update rail car position spreadsheet
  • Update truck and rail fuel rates
  • Oversee compliance with BQ 9000 requirements
  • Track transfer and 3rd party shipments to terminals including title transfer
  • Review daily transactions in and out of all terminals

Transportation Processing Function


  • Processing of freight confirmations to assure timely delivery of product to customers
  • Knowledge of all terminal agreements and terms
  • Billing of rail cars and tracing of rail equipment
  • Process freight bills for payment to accounts payable person

Analysis Function


  • Prepare and assist with analysis of needs for monthly lease car fleet utilization report

Other frequent duties:


  • Assist with invoice payments
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding shipment status
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the sales force, plant operations, and all internal/external customers
  • Perform the payment of rail car lease payments, diversion of empty tank cars, and distribution of rail car fleet to REG plants

Perform other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Required: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree – SCM, LSCM, or related degree

**Senior or Junior status required

Experience Required: Business environment experience, relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred

Skills Required:

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)

Advanced math and accounting skills

Advanced Excel skills (Pivot table, Macros, Advanced Excel Functions)

Special skills or knowledge preferred:

Sales skills

Analytical communication skills
