Job Description


This job is responsible for supervising the maintenance team and ensuring the correct maintenance of all equipment in the factory including, ordering and managing spare parts, working with contractors to maintain and upgrade the plant, and improving the reliability of the plant. It includes all aspects of chemical plant processing maintenance including the repair of pumps, valves, instrumentation and electrical work up to and including the motor control centers. It is a working supervisor position requiring direct field supervision and assistance as needed.


Key Accountabilities:


Safety Leadership

  • Provide Leadership to drive Safe Work Performance and Compliance with all REG Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Understand Process Safety Management Requirements and Perform work in accordance with the requirements.
  • Safely Execute Lock out Tag out, Confined Space Entry, Hot work, Authorized Electrical Work, Line Break, Elevated Work and other Safe Work Practices. Ensure the maintenance team and any contractors under your supervision follow the requirements.

Supervise the Maintenance Team

  • Supervise, Train, Schedule and Provide performance feedback to the maintenance team.
  • Ensure all work is performed to precision maintenance and other industry standards.

Troubleshoot and Repair Equipment including;

  • Centrifugal Pumps
  • Valves, Flowmeters, Pressure Transmitters, PLC’s
  • Piping
  • Industrial boilers
  • Air Compressors
  • Chillers and Cooling Towers

Use and Maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System

  • Write, Approve, Plan and Schedule work orders
  • Order and Manage parts and materials to maintain the plant
  • Write and schedule preventive and predictive maintenance tasks
  • Analyze plant performance data including equipment failure rates and costs
  • Assist in budgeting and training staff

Other frequent duties:

  • Assist operations as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education Required: 2 year associates degree– Industrial technology, Instrumentation Technician, Industrial technician, Journeyman mechanic, millwright, or electrician, or equivalent

            **Experience may substitute for education

Experience Required: At least 5 years in an industrial maintenance role

Skills Required: 

Verbal and written communication skills

Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,)

Strong organization skills

Strong technical background

Ability to work as a member of a team

Ability to supervise and lead others

Special skills or knowledge preferred:

Computerized Maintenance Management System

Instrumentation and/or controls certification I.e. ISA certification

Centrifugal pump operation and maintenance

Millwright or mechanic training

Welding skills or Certification

Cause analysis

CMRT (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician) or CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional)
