Job Description


The purpose of this job is to provide value to Regional fuel buyers primarily in the commercial and private truck fleet sector. This position will be responsible for managing Regional Accounts and working with petroleum distributors to sell biodiesel, renewable diesel, ultra-low sulfur diesel and blended fuels.



Managing Regional Accounts:

  • Establishes and maintains high-level relationships with business decision makers at major corporations with multiple locations
  • Secures new accounts while managing and growing sales revenue of existing key accounts
  • Develops and implements strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals
  • Contacts customers on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • Manages the pricing and profitability of assigned accounts
  • Prospects for new customers within a territory
  • Provides a weekly, monthly and annual sales forecast for managed accounts
  • Utilizes for customer relationship management including tracking, reporting and contract maintenance
  • Travels and conducts face-to-face meetings with accounts
  • Understands customer buying needs
  • Develops a good technical understanding of REG products and their benefits
  • Analyzes opportunities for account growth including terminal management, quarterly and annual customer reviews and product supply chain
  • Frequent overnight travel required by air and/or automobile

Coordinating with internal REG teams:

  • Provides competitor and market intelligence
  • Works with regional sales team members to identify sales opportunities
  • Coordinates with Supply Chain on gallons available at each plant
  • Coordinates with transportation on freight rates and truck and rail availability
  • Coordinates with inside sales on scheduling at plants
  • Coordinates with Tax and Credit on pricing and compliance
  • Works with customers and JD Edwards system to schedule loads


Other frequent duties:

  • Attends trade shows, conferences and association meetings
  • Attends monthly sales meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Be available for daily work and overtime as required

Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers (oral and written)

Demonstrate attention to detail

Ability to use office equipment (computer, copy machine, calculator, etc)

Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and in a timely manner

Provide personal contact information on an as needed basis for official business purposes


Education Required: 4 year bachelor’s degree – Business or related field

Experience Required:  7-10 years of progressive sales experience. Experience selling transportation fuels to National Accounts is preferred.
