Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for implementing, with direction and guidance from the Team Leader and other senior Corporate Affairs staff, internal communications, event management and philanthropy and community outreach program.  In addition, this position will be responsible for processing invoices and working with Department management and Accounts Payable to ensure the smooth payment of bills and invoices.  This position will operate within a high functioning, multi-faceted communications and government affairs team; some work may include projects related to public policy and regulatory programs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Key Accountabilities:

Communications 40%

  • Assist in the composition of press releases, company literature, and articles for internal and external use as well as any other writing and editing as assigned.
  • Write and Contribute to internal communications platforms: written stories, videos and infographics as directed.
  • Responsible for the integration, completion, and maintenance of the REG historical wall
  • Engage employees with company history through communications mediums like REG Intranet, REGTV, Newsletter, etc.
  • Maintains key communications distribution lists.
  • Supports crisis management communications team. 

Event Management 30%

  • Assists with the planning, coordination, and implementation of special events including: employee events, public relations events, meetings, conferences and special events
  • Develops materials and keeps archive of activities to promote REG story in and outside of the company

Philanthropy and Community Outreach 20%

  • Provide support to each REG location on philanthropy and community outreach strategy
  • Participate as an active member in and support REG’s Philanthropy committee
  • Coordinate various employee community outreach activities including: annual United Way campaign and other philanthropic activities

Invoice and accounts payable 10%

  • Manage, with guidance from the supervisor, the invoice and account payable process within the Department
  • Assist with budget management

Other frequent duties:

  • Assist Government Affairs
  • Occasional travel required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Required: 4 year bachelor’s degree – Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, Event Management, or related degree

Experience Required:  0-2 years

Skills Required

AP Style Writing

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Adobe Software –InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro

Special skills or knowledge preferred:

Website management skills
