Job Description

The purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, adherence to federal, state, and local tax laws, and be responsible for and assist with preparing federal, state and local indirect tax returns and related tax research. This position will require the valid application of tax laws and regulations to achieve financial accountability, and will participate in the US indirect tax (motor fuel, sales/use tax, property tax, etc.) compliance function of our Global Tax Department by reviewing and interpreting tax laws / regulations, communicating across multiple departments, and ensuring tax returns are scheduled, prepared, and timely filed.

Key Accountabilities:
Tax compliance
• Prepare and review federal, state and local excise and motor fuel tax returns
• Accurately prepare workpapers in support of filed tax returns by collecting, analyzing, and organizing financial information
• Review tax returns prepared by colleagues to ensure accuracy
• Timely file tax returns in relevant jurisdictions
• Comply with company policies and procedures to adhere to tax laws

Tax research
• Research and understand internal operations and transactions
• Ability to achieve working knowledge of tax laws and reporting requirements
• Applies federal, state, and local laws to business transactions
• Research and apply tax laws to fact patterns and new business opportunities
• Determine and understand the taxability of sales transactions for excise and motor fuel tax purposes
• High quality advice and communications that are clear and concise
• Coordination with internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired results / outcomes
• Correspondence with tax authorities on related matters

• Recommends process improvements and/or new technologies that will enhance efficiency and effectiveness
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, including special projects
• Ability to prioritize projects and effectively communicate to stakeholders in accomplishing goals
• Willingness to provide personal contact information to customers on an as needed basis for official business purposes
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education Required: 4 year bachelor’s degree - Accounting, Finance, or related business degree
Experience Required: 0-6 years of accounting, tax or financial experience; some knowledge of Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or other enterprise software programs like SAP and People Soft and its applications a plus.

Advanced Excel skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
Extensive math and accounting skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Special skills or knowledge preferred:
JD Edwards
