Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The purpose of this job is to be responsible for and assist EHS, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain Management with, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), implementation of corporate sustainability programs, and low carbon transport policy. The primary responsibility of this position is designing and conducting LCAs for new and existing biomass energy technologies. This includes designing models for fuels and biomass feedstocks. This position will also assist in designing a corporate Life Cycle Inventory and sustainability programs, involving the management of large datasets.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

CONFIDENTIALITY:  This position will have access to information that is confidential to the operations of the company.  That information must be held in highest confidence and failure to do so will result in disciplinary action which may include termination of employment.

Coordinates activities of staff engaged in the efficient and effective documentation of compliance with environmental regulatory programs and REG policies.

Sustainability:

  • Conduct LCAs on new and existing biofuels and renewable chemicals
  • Design and conduct LCAs on new and existing biofuel technology platforms
  • Design, implement, and manage a corporate Life Cycle Inventory (LCI)
  • Assisting with the design of a corporate a sustainability plan with a focus on manufacturing, and the production process
  • Building an internal data management platform
  • A desire to improve sustainability through increased efficiency and continuous process improvement

Environmental compliance:

  • Create regulatory submissions for programs such as including, California’s LCFS, US EPA’s RFS2, and various Canadian and European biofuel programs
  • Experience reviewing/interpreting regulations; Ideally, knowledge of RFS2 and LCFS programs
  • Assist with the drafting and review of regulatory comments
  • The ability to manage high volumes of data on multiple platforms and communicate effectively

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Required: 4 year bachelor’s degree –  Chemical Engineering, Bio Systems Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Policy, Sustainability or related degree

Experience Required:  0-3 years

Scientific research ability

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Extensive math and accounting skills

Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Advanced Excel skills

Special skills or knowledge preferred:

Life Cycle Assessment Tools (GABI, GREET, GHGenius, Biograce, etc)

Knowledge of ISO 14001, 14040, 14044

Agricultural background

Oracle based ERP systems

Sales Force

Knowledge of German language
