Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to monitor and maintain biotechnology office and laboratory equipment and infrastructure. Position works closely with research staff, EHS, and purchasing groups to execute preventative maintenance, manage contractors and custodians, respond to facility requests, order, receive and deliver materials. Duties include hands-on preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs as well as the inspection of safety equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintaining a consumable storeroom 
  • Support cleaning of glassware
  • Building walk-throughs and equipment inspections
  • Management of on-site contractors and custodians
  • Ordering and distribution of laboratory supplies, site materials, and mail
  • Office furniture assembly and repair
  • Freezer defrosting
  • Basic equipment maintenance and repair
  • Other related duties as they arise


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Required:

HS diploma. Formal training safety practices is preferred.

Experience Required:  Preferred 2-3 years experience in laboratory technician position.

Knowledge Required:  High school level understanding of chemistry and biology.  Familiarity with laboratory environments and safety procedures. Ability to perform simple math and algebraic calculations. Strong mechanical inclination and ability to work with hand tools is a plus.
