Job Description


The purpose of this job is to assist Corporate Business Development with a focus on research, evaluation, strategic analysis, financial modeling, and techno-economic analysis of new technologies and project development in biofuels, bioproducts, and environmental services. This will include competitors and industry evaluation and the development of new strategic initiatives that drive market share, risk management, and support long term growth. 


  • Assist in the development of strategic business opportunities and long-range business plans that support strategic initiatives of the business units.
  • Evaluate new technologies for biofuels, bioproducts, and environmental services, including research and evaluation of target companies, technology providers, business plans, financial models, techno-economic analysis, and intellectual property. 
  • Assist with the implementation of key business projects that support corporate objectives. This would include but not be limited to:
    • Coordinate Projects (start to finish)
    • Develop project work plans, schedules, budgets, and financial models
    • Monitor project progression
    • Communicate with all groups involved 
    • Verify project completion 
    • Final follow-up (review of analysis)
  • Help identify and analyze new technologies and business opportunities (partnerships, mergers, acquisitions, investments, etc.) to increase REG’s competitive position and drive profitability 
  • Collect information on competitors to fully understand their technologies, markets, intellectual property, and strategies for evaluation of potential mergers/acquisitions
  • Assist in developing strategic initiatives and market strategies that drive customer relationships and promote sustainable market positioning
  • Perform industry analysis and assist in financial modeling for strategic projects


Education Required: Pursuing a PhD, masters or bachelors degree in Business/Finance, Chemistry, Engineering, or Biosciences. Undergraduate candidates must have additional specialized training (must be junior or senior level student in degree). Masters and PhD students must have at least 6 months left in program to be considered.  

Experience Required: 3-5 years research and analytical business experience not required but preferred. Experience in manufacturing, technology development, and/or a financial analysis preferred.

Skills Required: Advanced financial modeling and accounting skills, good written and oral communication, and organizational skills. Strong understanding of engineering, chemistry and/or biosciences preferred but not required.
