Job Description


This position is responsible for developing sales markets and customers for feedstock and for supporting the supply of raw material for the REG fleet of plants globally. Through intense demand and supply analysis, feedstock will be marketed to existing and new customers. The main purpose of this position is to increase sales and trading business and increase margins of REG products as well as third-party traded products in order to support REG International Trading & Commodities business. 


Origination and Trading: 

  • Develop an effective pipeline of new customers while promoting and procuring the company’s products and services  
  • Develop and maintain knowledge about existing and prospective feedstock developments in the biodiesel industry at a global level 
  • Negotiate and prepare trading contracts ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory rules 
  • Procure new products and expand REG’s product portfolio with a focus on feedstock  
  • Act upon market view within given limitations for risk mitigation 

Market Research & Business Development: 

  • Identify and develop trading opportunities with focus on biodiesel feedstock 
  • Support the procurement team in optimizing internal trading processes 
  • Stay up-to-date of market trends, demand and supply within the market, and competitors, and seek business opportunities accordingly 
  • Proactively research feedstock energy markets, products, prices and players and develop a strong view on future price and demand/supply developments in order to take positions 

Sustainable Customer Relationship Management: 

  • Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers, strengthen customer relationships through regular contact, meetings and events 
  • Follow a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction 
  • Represent the company at conferences, fairs and other external or internal events 


Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Finance, Economics, or related business field preferred. 

Experience Required: 2-5 years of experience in sales/trading of feedstock in the biofuel industry, including well developed network within the European biodiesel industry. 

Skills Required: 

  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit, a creative mind and connected thinking
  • High level of self- motivation, independent working and drive for results. Open mind and the ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Thorough understanding of sales drivers as well as risk management and hedging mechanisms
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, including ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels in the organization
  • Team player, enjoy working in an international environment
  • Positive attitude that inspires co-workers and clients to grow the business
  • Ability to make engaging presentations to staff and clients whether formal or informal
  • Understanding of European biofuels and biofuels feedstock markets and products, including buyers, sellers, plants and competitors
  • Effective time management and planning skills. Ability to prioritize assignments at work, ability to work under pressure and still meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce)
  • Language skills: fluent in spoken and written English; German or other European languages are an advantage
  • Travel required: 30-50%
